At the start of Most Wanted, Rog (the guy that later runs the garage), makes a comment about what what the «underground» racer can do in the daytime, so it makes sense that Most Wanted follows Underground 2

If I remember correctly, Rog is the guy that supplies the ultimate parts from the back part of the garage.

Back to my previous posts, the storyline from U1 to U2 to Most Wanted is OK, even to when the player returns to Palmont in the BMW from Most Wanted. The conflict is with Carbon’s intro «prequel», where the player is already a good racer, but the Prima guide and collector’s editions place the time of the «prequel» to «5 years before» (2001), which would be 2 years before Underground 1 was released. Then there’s the issue of what car(s) the player has. U2’s intro implies that the player completes U1 with the Skyline. After U2, the player can have a collection of 5 cars, but the Carbon prequel could still be after this, assuming that the Supra was either a better car, or that the cars that the player had from U2 would not be allowed in that Carbon prequel race. So the time line makes more sense if it’s U1 (2003), U2 (2004), Carbon prequel, Most Wanted (2005), Carbon present day (2006). After that the player could have sold some or all of his cars in order to buy the BMW M3 GTR. Note that BMW made 10 «street» versions of the GTR in 2001 to comply with the American Lemans Series rule, since the Lemans cars were using V8 engines not available in the regular BMW M3 E46.

Simply, there’s no conflict between U-Series and Carbon if you (or anyone else) would NOT try to place U and U2 into this. The issue is placed by pushin Underground into this, not by Carbon.

It doesn’t matter how many cars the player would have, aside that the amount of cars has no affect on the storyline, but to give the player more variety unlike Underground, which only allowed one car, but always tradeable for nearly nothing and even refunds. The thing is, the BMW M3 GTR which the player Owns in NFS isn’t the Street version, the player has the actual race car with only one seat, air pipes for cooling, roll bar and a fire extinguisher.

So, the game sets the prequel to 5 years back, 2001 and he returns 2006 and realized that everything changed. The Carbon CE reveals that the player was Nikki’s first truth love, this tells us that the player grew up in Palmont, and couldn’t be in U or U2.

(I could’ve said he and Nikki went to college and met there but came from different towns or the same town, or Palmont still) But the CE reveals that Nikki grew up in Palmont.

And the ending of Underground 2 has no hints for a sequel, its ends with the party and U2 trailer.

I really think it is the way it is, Underground and Underground 2 tell the story of a different character than in MW and Carbon.

How he could achieve it?

1. Stole it from the BMW Museum, however, if its only in germany, I don’t think he could have chances to ship it to the US, cause stolen and or he would be with a mafia which planned it. doubtful at his age back then.
2. Was a Le mans racer (or similar) between 2001 and 2005.
3. He just had it, devs choose it without it getting a meaning of how he got it.
4.He took a street bmw and modified it to the exact race car, tho, I don’t think he would have modified the interior as well, cause what if he wants to take a girl with? No seats. overall the interior adjustment wouldn’t make sense.

The conflict between Carbon and U1, U2 didn’t exist until Carbon was made, and it’s only Carbon’s stating that the prequel happened 5 years before that creates a conflict. Before that, U1, U2, and Most Wanted worked as a continuning storyline, although it’s mosly Rog’s comment about «underground and daytime» that connects U2 with Most Wanted. Not that the storyline is all that great either. U1 and U2 — sponsors pay for illegal night time street races? MW — the black list was only exposed when the player defeated them in races? Carbon — crew territories were won by winning races?

The Prima Guide interview with Marc DeVellis mentions a sequel to Hot Pursuit 2, and an Underground 3. I doubt that they were thinking of Hot Pursuit 2010 version at the time Marc made the comment, so the project may have been abandoned and restarted. Most Wanted and Carbon continued the illegal street racing theme. ProStreet broke the trend with legal track races, then in Undercover, the player is working with the police (also Ryan Cooper from ProStreet is heard getting arrested in the police chatter in Undercover).

As for the BMW E46 M3 GTR, BMW ceased racing it in the (American) Lemans series after 2001, although private teams continued to race it, so there was a supply of the race version available sold to private teams.
